The Beatles put out a Christmas record every
year of their career. At first, they
were no more than scripted words of thanks to the fans buying their LPs, and in
the end, turned into fragmented recordings, each Beatle solo, and even a guest
appearance by Tiny Tim. But in 1967,
they were making a strange and hysterical aural collage, interspersed with
snippets of their fun singalong tune, “Christmastime Is Here Again.” After all, it ain’t been round since… last
year!
